Hi, I’m Sara. Welcome to the world of family-centered outdoor and in-home newborn photography!
After being a wedding, event, family, and archaeological site photographer for years, I found my true calling in maternity, newborn, and family photography in 2018.
I am one of the few photographers you’ll meet who specializes in both in-home and outdoor newborn photography. Why do I do this? Because I know that both locations can mean something special to my clients. An in-home session shows this stage where it is taking place, in the home. This is the home where you took your baby home to and that means something. But I also know that some families feel more at home in the outdoors and want to pass that love for the outdoors down to their kiddos through these heirlooms, so I offer that option as well. And why not? Colorado is breathtaking.

You won’t find newborns wrapped up like balls and holding up their head unrealistically with their two hands here. I strive to capture your newborn as they are at this stage in their lives. I capture who they are at this stage and all their cuteness just like it is in real life.

I have scoured this state for the most breathtaking and unique locations available for outdoor newborn sessions. When it comes to in-home sessions, I’ll be as nosey as I need to in order to find the best little photogenic spots your home offers.

You are someone I will get to know, care about, and do anything I can to help you succeed in getting newborn photos you’ll cherish for years to come and your newborn, when they get older, will cherish as well. Feel awkward in front of the camera? No worries. Most people do, including me. I’ll guide you through everything, so that you’re never wondering what you’re supposed to be doing while you stand there.

You won’t have to worry about a thing at your session. I’ll have the whole session planned out, so that we capture the poses you most want with more backdrops than you can ever want.

If you can’t tell from my photography, I’m known for my backdrops. I know how to capture both the backdrop (including if it is your home) and you, so that both look amazing and you are still the focus of the photo.

When you receive your gallery, all of the images will be hand edited one-by-one by me. Why does it matter? Because even Ai can’t do as well as I can.

I’ve taken care of everything from newborn acne to flaky baby skin. If I can photoshop it, I’ll take care of it for you.
Session Design

This is my day job, so I spend hours upon hours every year scouring the entire state for locations that will make your jaw drop.

Through both virtual scouting and in-person scouting, I’ll help you identify places in your home that will highlight both your family and your home in the best light. Have a nursery? Great! We’ll capture it. Don’t have a nursery? That works too. Have a dark urban home? No worries. You wouldn’t guess it but a lot of my portfolio has been taken in dark urban homes.

This is already a crazy time. You don’t know what size you’ll be when the baby comes. You don’t know what size the baby will be. That is why I have items for both of you to wear at your newborn session that will make you both look great in photos.

We’ll discuss during your design meeting what poses are special to you and we should make sure to capture. I’ll plan the session around those requests and make the most of the location you have chosen, so that you have more images you love than you can imagine.

Your session will be personalized to you. Beyond making sure all the poses you want are captured, we can incorporate things that are special to you as a family. Like Star Wars? Why not have a couple of light sabers in a few photos. Like the Game of Thrones? I have just the location suggestion for you. Like Star Trek? I actually picked a dress with a Star Trek theme in mind. This session is for you and only you.
Planning/Consultation

Want to get your hair and make-up done professionally? I have a list of hair and make-up artists that have been used by my previous clients and are loved by them.

We’ll have designated times we’ll meet, like you design meeting, but I don’t just disappear outside of that. You will have my phone number so you can text/call with any questions that come up at any time of the process.

Yes, we’re there to capture photos. But this is also your opportunity to take a moment and enjoy this milestone. We won’t be rushing. You’ll have time to enjoy the snuggles and the quality time together too.

I include digital image files in all my collections, but photos are meant to be printed and enjoyed. I offer album services and guidance for printing for that very reason.

After your session, you’ll have access to my archiving resources to make sure those photos will last the ages.

In-Home
For the families who love their home just as much as the outdoors, these sessions capture all the cuddles, snuggles, and coziness of the newborn stage within your home.
Instead of exploring outdoor locations during your design meeting, we'll discuss your home and figure out together the best places to capture images that show the essence of your family and the beauty of your home.
Use of client closet items and design services for the whole family is complimentary, so that you can all look your best without the hassle of trying to find something after the whirlwind of having a baby.
We can't depend on a baby to do what we want when we want, so this session is as long as it needs to be in order to capture all the images your heart desires. Typically these sessions last two to two and half hours.

Outdoor
With locations stretching from Castle Rock to Fort Collins along the amazing Front Range and into the mountains themselves, we can capture your growing family with jaw-dropping mountain vistas, beautiful foothills, the Boulder Flatirons and so much more as the backdrop to your photos. You'll receive a list of suggested locations to consider, but anything within 60 miles of Longmont is included in this session.
Use of client closet items and design services for the whole family is complimentary, so that you can all look your best without the hassle of trying to find something after the whirlwind of having a baby.
Your session will go for two hours, capturing an hour and a half before the sun starts setting and going until the sun has stopped showing its beauty so that you all are bathed in beautiful golden hour lighting and don't miss anything during your epic Colorado sunset.
Many locations in Colorado require a commercial photo permit in order to do a portrait there. Your sitting fee will cover a photo permit of up to $100.

Wander
Embrace the adventurer at heart and choose a location outside the local area with a backdrop for the ages. This session includes any location within the state of Colorado. We could go to the Great Sand Dunes, Paint Mines, Rifle Falls, Garden of the Gods, or another place that you know of, but I don't.
Use of the client closet during your session and my professional styling services, so that the whole family looks amazing without the stress of finding all the items needed to make family photos look great.
Your session will go for two hours, capturing an hour and a half before the sun starts setting and going until the sun has stopped showing its beauty so that you are bathed in beautiful golden hour lighting and don't miss anything during your epic Colorado sunset.

Leave the metro area behind and go up to the towering Rocky Mountains. Your session will go for one hour, capturing 45 minutes before the sun starts setting and going until the sun has stopped showing its beauty so that you are bathed in beautiful golden hour lighting and don't miss anything during your epic Colorado sunset.

Want to do milestone sessions during baby's first year? These vouchers help you to do that. I will gift you two $250 vouchers that can each go towards a sitting fee during baby's first year. You get to choose the type of session and when it will happen. Many families will choose to do a six month milestone and a 12 month milestone or a fall family session and a spring family session. But this is truly a choose your own adventure baby plan, so the timing during that first year is completely up to you.

During the design meeting for your maternity and newborn sessions, we'll also iron out a plan for baby's first year. Based on what your family is hoping to capture in that first year, we'll develop a timeline for when to have milestone and family photo sessions.

With your plan in hand, I'll reach out when it is time to schedule your next session. You'll get first access to my calendar, so that you can always get the prime spots.
