Hi, I’m Sara. Welcome to the world of adventure maternity photography!
After being a wedding, event, family, and archaeological site photographer for years, I found my true calling in adventure maternity, newborn, and family photography in 2018. After seeing the work being done by adventure elopement photographers, I thought that it had a place in maternity, newborn, and family photography as well.
I acknowledge pregnant women aren’t usually interested in waking up at 1 am to climb a fourteen thousand foot mountain. After hundreds of hours of scouring Colorado for the best backdrops a car and short walk can access, I now know that adventure photography can be accessible to people of all abilities, including women towards the end of their pregnancy.

Feel awkward in front of the camera? No worries. Most people do, including me. I’ll guide you through everything, so that you’re never wondering what you’re supposed to be doing while you stand there.

You won’t have to worry about a thing at your session. I’ll have the whole session planned out, so that we capture the poses you most want with more backdrops than you can ever want.

If you can’t tell from my photography, I’m known for my backdrops. I know how to capture both the backdrop and you, so that both look amazing and you are still the focus of the photo.

When you receive your gallery, all of the images will be hand edited one-by-one by me. Why does it matter? Because even Ai can’t do as well as I can.

I’ve taken care of everything from pregnancy acne to injuries from a raccoon fight the night before the session (yep, not lying!). If I can photoshop it, I’ll take care of it for you.

This is my day job, so I spend hours upon hours every year scouring the entire state for locations that will make your jaw drop.

Having a hard time finding things that fit during your pregnancy? Well, you don’t have to worry about that for your session. I have over 100 dresses from designers that specialize in maternity photoshoot dresses and are curated by me to make you look fabulous with whatever Colorado backdrop you choose.

We’ll discuss during your design meeting what poses are special to you and we should make sure to capture. I’ll plan the session around those requests and make the most of the location you have chosen, so that you have more images you love than you can imagine.

Your session will be personalized to you. Beyond making sure all the poses you want are captured, we can incorporate things that are special to you as a family. Like Star Wars? Why not have a couple of light sabers in a few photos. Like the Game of Thrones? I have just the location suggestion for you. Like Star Trek? I actually picked a dress with a Star Trek theme in mind. This session is for you and only you.
Planning/Consultation

Want to get your hair and make-up done professionally? I have a list of hair and make-up artists that have been used by my previous clients and are loved by them.

We’ll have designated times we’ll meet, like you design meeting, but I don’t just disappear outside of that. You will have my phone number so you can text/call with any questions that come up at any time of the process.

Yes, we’re there to capture photos. But this is also your opportunity to take a moment and enjoy this milestone. We won’t be rushing. You’ll have time to enjoy nature and twirl in those dresses too!

I include digital image files in all my collections, but photos are meant to be printed and enjoyed. I offer album services and guidance for printing for that very reason.

After you session, you’ll have access to my archiving resources to make sure those photos will last the ages.
Wander
Embrace the adventurer at heart and choose a location outside the local area with a backdrop for the ages. This session includes any location within the state of Colorado. We could go to the Great Sand Dunes, Paint Mines, Rifle Falls, Garden of the Gods, or another place that you know of, but I don't.
Use of three client closet gowns during your session, so that you can look amazing without the stress of finding something that fits during that week of your pregnancy.
Your session will go for two hours, capturing an hour and a half before the sun starts setting and going until the sun has stopped showing its beauty so that you are bathed in beautiful golden hour lighting and don't miss anything during your epic Colorado sunset.
Many locations in Colorado require a commercial photo permit in order to do a portrait there. Your sitting fee will cover a photo permit of up to $100.

Ascend
Leave the metro area behind and go up to the towering Rocky Mountains. With locations stretching from Castle Rock to Fort Collins along the amazing Front Range and into the mountains themselves, we can capture jaw-dropping mountain vistas, alpine lakes, old growth forests, and so much more as the backdrop to your photos. You'll receive a list of suggested locations to consider, but anything within 60 miles of Longmont is included in this session.
Use of two client closet gowns during your session, so that you can look amazing without the stress of finding something that fits during that week of your pregnancy.
Your session will go for two hours, capturing an hour and a half before the sun starts setting and going until the sun has stopped showing its beauty so that you are bathed in beautiful golden hour lighting and don't miss anything during your epic Colorado sunset.

Colorado has so much to offer both near and far. With this session, we'll stay closer to home by capturing your photos at a beautiful location in the Boulder or Longmont areas. You'll receive a list of suggested locations to consider, but anything within Boulder or Longmont cities are included in this session.
Use of one client closet gown during your session, so that you can look amazing without the stress of finding something that fits during that week of your pregnancy.
Your session will go for one hour, capturing 45 minutes before the sun starts setting and going until the sun has stopped showing its beauty so that you are bathed in beautiful golden hour lighting and don't miss anything during your epic Colorado sunset.
Many locations in Colorado require a commercial photo permit in order to do a portrait there. Your sitting fee will cover a photo permit of up to $100.

Want to do milestone sessions during baby's first year? These vouchers help you to do that. I will gift you two $250 vouchers that can each go towards a sitting fee during baby's first year. You get to choose the type of session and when it will happen. Many families will choose to do a six month milestone and a 12 month milestone or a fall family session and a spring family session. But this is truly a choose your own adventure baby plan, so the timing during that first year is completely up to you.

During the design meeting for your maternity and newborn sessions, we'll also iron out a plan for baby's first year. Based on what your family is hoping to capture in that first year, we'll develop a timeline for when to have milestone and family photo sessions.
